Reality capture isn't just for 'As-Builts'......

At MDS Digital we aim to enhance construction accuracy and lifecycle asset integrity by deploying high-resolution SLAM (simultaneous localisation and mapping) scanning and structured digital-engineering methodologies throughout the build process. Through continuous spatial capture, deviation analysis, and early non-compliance detection, we provide project teams with validated, data-rich models that improve coordination, minimise rework, and ensure that built assets align with design, regulatory, and FM requirements.

At MDS Digital, the NavVis MLX is central to our reality-capture workflow. Its advanced SLAM technology allows us to scan large, complex construction environments quickly and with high spatial accuracy, capturing detailed point clouds and panoramic imagery in a single pass. This gives project teams a reliable, real-time view of site conditions at any stage of the build.

Processed through NavVis IVION, each scan becomes a georeferenced, high-fidelity digital twin that integrates seamlessly with BIM platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, and Revizto. We use this data to verify installations, detect non-compliances, and highlight deviations from the design model before they escalate into costly rework.

For building owners and facilities teams, the MLX data becomes a long-term asset. By delivering a highly accurate as-built digital twin with embedded imagery and location-based metadata, MDS Digital provides a reliable source of truth for future refurbishments, maintenance planning, and asset governance. The result is a measurable reduction in rework, increased site efficiency, and greater certainty across the entire lifecycle of the building.
